Umbrella trims & packaging

Sleeves, ties, closures, labels, hangtags and cartons. These are the cheapest parts on an umbrella and the ones most likely to decide whether a retailer lists it — a missing barcode or a wrong hangtag can hold a shipment at the door.

Trims

Trims that change how a product reads

Sleeve

The difference between an umbrella that looks like a gift and one that looks like a spare. Printed sleeves carry the same artwork as the canopy.

Tie and closure

A printed tie is visible when the umbrella is closed — one of the few brand positions that works at rest.

Woven label

Reads as quality rather than advertising. Usually sewn into the sleeve or the canopy edge.

Hangtag

Carries barcode, price, care instructions and any market-specific text.

Packaging

Three packing routes

Packing is quoted as its own line because it varies by channel. Specify it early — changing it after production starts is expensive.

  • Bulk plain — polybag and plain carton; lowest cost, for events and internal programmes
  • Branded — printed sleeve or box with your artwork and colour
  • Retail ready — barcode, hangtag and carton marking to your retailer's specification
Carton strength is a specification

Long umbrellas and heavy bases need cartons specified for the load. Crushed cartons on arrival are a packing decision, not a shipping accident.

Retail

What retailers will ask for

If your goods go to a retail chain, these requirements are usually non-negotiable and are cheaper to build in than to retrofit.

RequirementNotes
BarcodeYour barcode, supplied as a printable file and verified on a sample
Carton markingShipping marks, quantity and any retailer reference
Hangtag & labelling textComposition, care and origin text in the required language
Warning textWhere required by your market, on the polybag or carton
PalletisationStandard or retailer-specific pallet pattern, on request
Send the retailer's specification

If you have a retailer packing guide, send it with the enquiry. Retrofitting barcodes or carton marks after production is one of the most expensive avoidable mistakes in this trade.

Branding

Where your mark appears

Sleeve print

Screen, transfer or digital print on a fabric or PU sleeve. Matches the canopy artwork.

Woven label

Your mark woven into a label sewn to the sleeve or the canopy edge.

Printed carton

Branded outer carton, useful when goods are distributed without repacking.

FAQ

Trims & packaging questions

Can you print our barcode on the packaging?

Yes. Send the barcode file and where it needs to appear, and we will verify it by scanning a sample before bulk.

Do you supply packaging separately?

Yes. Sleeves, ties, labels and cartons can be ordered without finished umbrellas, which suits assembly plants packing locally.

Can you follow our retailer's packing guide?

Yes, and please send it with the enquiry. Packing requirements are much cheaper to build into the order than to correct afterwards.

What is the minimum for printed packaging?

Higher than for plain packaging, because printing has set-up cost. Confirm per item — it varies a lot between a printed sleeve and a printed carton.
