A custom umbrella supplier for European buyers

If you import umbrellas into the EU you are buying three things at once: a product, a compliance file, and a delivery date that lands before your season starts. This page is how we handle all three.

What we do, and what we are not

We are a sourcing partner

We work inside the Songxia umbrella cluster in Shangyu — the cluster that produces roughly one in three umbrellas sold worldwide — and match your specification to a factory that is genuinely set up for it, rather than to whichever one answered first.

We are not a factory

We do not claim to own the sewing floor. What we do claim is single-point accountability: one specification, one quotation, one inspection report, one person answering your email.

We put claims in writing

Chemical testing, mechanical testing and inspection results come from third parties or from our own documented checks. Where something cannot be evidenced, we say so instead of implying it.

We sell to businesses

Programmes start at hundreds of pieces per design, not at single units. That is what lets us hold reference samples and keep reorders consistent.

The European buyer’s checklist

Every EU programme we handle covers the same ground. Going through it in the first email is the difference between a quote in two days and a quote in two weeks.

  1. Specification: size, fabric weight and coating, frame material and dimensions, mechanism, colour references.
  2. Quantity and split: total, and how it divides across sizes and colours — mixing affects cutting and the true minimum.
  3. Branding: artwork files, print method preference, number of positions and colours.
  4. Compliance: REACH screening, and any mechanical or UV test your retailer requires, each with the standard named.
  5. Packing: retail or bulk packing, barcode placement, carton quantity and shipping marks.
  6. Logistics: FOB Ningbo as standard; consolidation with other categories where it helps the freight.
  7. Dates: the date the goods have to be on the water — not the date they have to arrive, which depends on the service.

Compliance: the EU picture in plain terms

Umbrellas are general consumer goods. There is no CE mark for an umbrella, but there is a real documentation burden, and it grew when the General Product Safety Regulation (EU) 2023/988 began applying on 13 December 2024: products need traceability and an economic operator established in the EU. As importer, that operator is normally you. Our part is the technical file and the third-party test reports behind it.

REACH (EC) 1907/2006

Covers fabric, coatings, metal parts, plastics and inks. SVHC screening is the baseline; buyers increasingly also ask about PFHxA-related restrictions on textiles.

Mechanical safety

Sharp edges and points, rib strength, handle pull-out and fatigue cycling. Name the standard your market applies and we test to it.

UV and colour claims

UPF claims need a method: AATCC TM183, AS/NZS 4399 or GB/T 18830. Colour fastness to ISO 105-B02 with a grade, not a description.

Packaging and labelling

EU packaging rules, country-of-origin marking, batch codes and GPSR importer details, agreed before packing rather than after.

FAQ

Questions buyers ask before the first order

Where are the umbrellas made?

In Songxia, Shangyu — the umbrella cluster in Zhejiang that produces roughly one in three umbrellas sold worldwide. Component suppliers, dye houses and assembly are all within a short radius, which is why lead times here are shorter than a single vertically integrated factory can usually manage.

What is your minimum order quantity?

Plan on 500–1,000 pieces per design for custom work. Stock canopy colours with simple printing can run lower. The actual minimum for your design is confirmed at quotation.

Can you test to the standard my retailer requires?

Yes, when you name it. We arrange third-party testing and supply the report. We do not self-declare results we have not measured — that is the difference between a document you can rely on and one you cannot.

What payment terms do you use?

Deposit against order confirmation, balance before shipment is the common structure for a first order; terms evolve once there is a track record. We set out the options in writing before you commit.

Do you work with European forwarders?

Yes. We ship FOB Ningbo and hand over to your nominated forwarder, or quote CIF with a named carrier. Duties, VAT and inland delivery sit with you or your broker.

How fast is the first reply?

Within one business day, and normally with questions rather than a price — because an accurate quote needs a specification. Artwork and drawings can follow by email.

Start with a specification, not a catalogue request

Tell us the size, fabric, frame, quantity and delivery window. We come back with factory options, MOQ, a sampling plan and an itemised quote — normally within one to three business days.
